Matt contacted me in the summer, saying he was planning a romantic weekend getaway in Stowe, Vermont during foliage season for his girlfriend, Annette. He had some big plans and an even bigger rock! 😉
When I spoke to Matt to solidify our plans, he seemed nervous but ready. He was thoughtful in planning this event: secretly booking me, leaving champagne at the lodge for the proposal, and planning a brunch for right after the proposal photos were taken. The level of detail and thought Matt put into this was heartwarming, and it told me that this was going to be a truly special couple.
The weather was cold and rainy, so rather than propose in an open space as was the plan, I asked a Stowe Mountain Resort employee (shout out to Tammy, if you’re reading this!!!) who kindly walked me and my assistant across the resort to a small covered bridge. It was not far from Matt’s hotel room, so they wouldn’t have to walk far in the rain, but it was secluded– PERFECT FOR A PROPOSAL!
Side note, this was my third Stowe covered bridge proposal. You can throw a rock and hit a covered bridge anywhere in Stowe. Stowe is seriously the PERFECT romantic getaway.
I hurriedly texted Matt about the location change to get his approval. He loved it! He asked her if she wanted to take a walk and he led her to this spot. I hid in some bushes and was able to catch his proposal and Annette’s tearful, beautiful, “YES.”
Matt and Annette popped some champagne and enjoyed the special moment while I photographed her new ring. It was a BEAUTY– the Verragio diamond ring had a beautifully unique setting that was a joy to photograph. Annette was OVER THE MOON with her new ring and even said, “I couldn’t have chosen better myself.” Nicely done, Matt! 🙂
Afterward we walked around, taking photos around the resort. The employees were so kind to us, and several people stopped to congratulate Matt and Annette. Love was in the air! I always feel so attached to my proposal couples, because I am lucky enough to be there for such a big moment in their lives. I cry every damn time.
Annette and Matt were almost floating they were so happy. I wish them nothing but the best moving forward!
(The moment Annette realized I was there taking photos! HAHA!)
