Earlier this summer, Ashley reached out because she wanted to propose during a sail on Lake Champlain. She and her boyfriend were planning a visit from Tennessee, and she wanted to surprise him.
We made plans to meet up, and I would pretend to be the sailboat’s content creator, casually taking photos of the boat. However, I didn’t have to pretend because Matt proposed to Ashley that SAME morning at sunset. I loved that both of them were ready, and both of them had separate elaborate plans to make that day unforgettable.
Ashley’s ring kept hitting the light on the water just right, and Ashley and Matt seemed at times to be in their own little, happy world. They were so sweet with each other, and braved standing up on the boat to capture some gorgeous photos.
I have to admit that at first, I did NOT have my “sea legs” and was crab-crawling all over the boat to capture these two. But over time I got more comfortable, and I enjoyed myself so much that I can’t wait to photograph a sailboat engagement session again. It was THE perfect location for a session. The spacial limitations forced me to get creative, and I loved every second of it!
Congratulations to these two, who are such a stunning couple.

Over the years, I was asked the same questions. “What do I wear?” “What colors look best on camera?” This FREE guide will tell you all you need to know about how to prepare for your session!
