Shelburne Farms Proposal: Kelly Says Yes!

Burke reached out earlier this summer, hoping to book a photo session while he popped the big question to his girlfriend Kelly. These two drove from Baltimore for a long weekend in Vermont, and were anxious to explore the Burlington area. After some talking, it was clear that Shelburne Farms would be the best option for Burke. He wanted somewhere elegant and special, and nowhere fits that bill quite like Shelburne Farms.

The weather was stormy, with lightning in the forecast. We only had one shot to accomplish this big surprise, so we made a rain plan and hoped for the best. Burke texted me nervously, making sure everything was in order.  I hid inside one of the many barn’s courtyards with my rain gear and a bottle of champagne, waiting for our signal.

Kelly said a tearful yes, and the moment went perfectly. I can’t imagine how nervous Burke was, but he pulled it off beautifully.

Afterward, we walked around the lakeside grounds taking photos. Typically packed this time of year, the Farms was quiet due to the weather. The rain held off, and a stormy sky made for a wonderfully epic backdrop to an epic day.
