Celeste + Ryan’s Vermont Elopement

Celeste and Ryan’s original wedding plans were drastically altered by the pandemic. After five years dating and three wedding plans that changed, they were happy to finally be celebrating their marriage this past Saturday. “They just want to be married,” Celeste’s brother explained before their ceremony. And surrounded by their closest friends and family, Celeste walked down to the pond where Ryan was anxiously waiting to marry her.

I remember wishing for rain on their original wedding day, hoping that bad weather might soften the blow of missing their big day. On their elopement day, there wasn’t a cloud in the sky. Ryan’s parents home served as the backdrop for the ceremony and small barbecue, and the views of the Willoughby Gap, Jay Peak, and Camel’s Hump were incredible.

Weddings in the Northeast Kingdom are unparalleled. You can’t beat the “work hard, play hard” mentality and the perfect scenery.

Celeste and Ryan, your happy tears were beautiful. As an artist who couldn’t work due to the pandemic, I was so grateful to have you two be my first COVID wedding. Your grandkids will ask for you to tell the story of how you had to change your plans because of world events, and it will be a family legend for centuries to come. Love during this time should absolutely be celebrated, and I couldn’t be happier for you two to finally be husband and wife. Congratulations!
