Katie and Ben tied the knot on Saturday, with a close friend, Ben’s mother, and Katie’s mom via Zoom. The weather was unseasonably warm, the US had elected a new president, and the buzz in the air was palpable. It was a magical day to get married.
Ben and Katie were both nervous before their first look, and both of them wanted a private place to see each other for the first time in their wedding outfits. Even though they plan on having a ceremony and a big party next year, they put so much love and effort into this “micro-wedding.” One of my favorite details was Katie’s bouquet brooches, which symbolized her mother and served as her Something Blue. “My butterfly tattoos represent myself and my mom, and I wanted her to be on the bouquet as well,” Katie told me. It was obvious that Katie wanted to infuse the love from the friends and family who couldn’t attend into her day as much as possible.
These two were met with RAUCOUS applause as they walked down the street at husband and wife. I’ve never seen anything like it! These two were walking on air, and it felt like a fairy-tale ending to a perfect day. Thank you, you two, for including me in your elopement plans. I can’t wait to see you again next year!
