Congratulations to Steph and Ryan, who hosted their nearest friends and family for their wedding at the beautiful Willoughby Haven in Barton, Vermont.
This venue, nestled in the heart of the Northeast Kingdom, runs along Lake Willoughby. I used to frequent Willoughby as a kid, and I remember both loving and fearing the lake because of rumors of monsters in the depths of the perpetually-freezing water. There is something mystical and magical about this lake, and it was absolutely perfect for the barefoot, whimsical, and intimate wedding Steph and Ryan had been dreaming of for years.
Next to several cute cabins (where I used to stay in as a child!) is a huge field with a dock and beautiful near-white sand. The nod to the days of summer camp that you feel when you arrive is especially salient considering that Steph and Ryan met at just 12 years old. All these years later, they still keep that magic alive.
Steph and Ryan were amazing to photograph, because you could tell they knew they’d cherish the photos they were taking, just as they cherished this entire day. Their friends and family made the day run smoothly and stress-free (shout out to Steph’s bridesmaid, who brought me a delicious cocktail when she saw that I was thirsty! What a hero). It was so clear to me that this day wasn’t JUST about Steph and Ryan– it was about the community around them that promised to love them as a couple.
Thank you again, you two, and congratulations on your gorgeous Vermont wedding! I am so happy for you and your two boys. XO!
