Danielle & George’s Vermont Countryside Wedding

 

 

 

Congratulations to Danielle and George, who tied the knot on May 28!

I met Danielle and George last winter for their engagement photos, and I noticed that the key word to describe the way they interact has to be sweetly. They are protective of the other– always making sure the other is warm enough, is comfortable, is happy. They lovingly check in with each other, and I noticed that happening on their wedding day.

Their day was gorgeous. It began with ominous clouds and rain that broke the humidity and lead to sunshine for the rest of the afternoon.

I attend dozens of weddings a year, and Danielle and George’s ceremony stuck out to me. The officiant was a family member who gave guests a timeline of Danielle and George’s relationship, which was funny, charming, and special. Another close friend read a Neil Gaiman reading on love.

 

“This is everything I have to tell you about love: nothing.
This is everything I’ve learned about marriage: nothing.

Only that the world out there is complicated,
and there are beasts in the night, and delight and pain,
and the only thing that makes it okay, sometimes,
is to reach out a hand in the darkness and find another hand to squeeze,
and not to be alone.”

 

The reading goes on to explain that you simply can’t know what marriage will be like until you dive in and try it. It’s a sweet experiment, and finding someone to try it with is the luckiest thing in the world.

 

Danielle and George, it’s clear that you are surrounded by people who love you as a couple. I wish you all the best in your marriage, and the best years are ahead! XO!
