Callie & Matt’s Rhode Island Engagement Session

 

Callie and Matt met at school, right before they were due to leave town. They started dating and agreed that it was a simple, no-strings-attached relationship that had an end date.

Ten years later, they are getting married in the beautiful Northeast Kingdom of Vermont.

Callie grew up there, on Lake Willoughby, and knew that was the place where they should start their forever. Callie and Matt live on the coast in Bonnett, Rhode Island, and as I was driving down their street to meet them for our engagement session, I immediately knew which house was theirs. Callie and Matt had hand-painted a large organic vegetable stand at the end of their yard, with bright colors indicating that it is a “take what you need, give what you can,” arrangement. This is SO Callie, and I loved that they worked together on this stand. They are, after all, a couple who loves their projects.

Callie and Matt have an easygoing, goofy relationship. Capturing them was wonderful because they have moments of sweetness, followed by pure absurdity with inside jokes that have been carefully crafted over a decade. I feel so lucky to be photographing their wedding on Lake Willoughby in Vermont next year.
