Rachel & Rick’s Lakeside Kingdom Elopement

July 13, 2023

HUGE CONGRATS to Rachel and Ricky, who held their intimate micro wedding at a lakeside airbnb in Derby, Vermont this summer.

These two grew up together, even vacationing together with families. As adults, they realized they were not just meant to be best friends, but were deeply in love. (Wouldn’t you read this romantic novel?)

It’s hard to pick favorite moments from their day. The most standout feature was the love and support from their families. Rachel’s sister secured her veil into her hair, and her mom helped her get dressed. Ricky’s mom teared up upon seeing her son in his dapper suit. Their family blew bubbles for their first kiss, and her dad even went barefoot when he saw that his daughter was also barefoot. It might be corny to say, but their family completely charmed me in only the way Vermonters can. I felt like part of the family, and I guarantee anyone they meet feels that way, too. Their families made sure their day went smoothly and, more importantly, happily.

I also LOVED that Rachel was more than willing to play in the rain for newlywed portraits. She asked Ricky if they could take some photos without umbrellas, and my heart sang. Of course Ricky said yes, as it’s clear he adores her. (I loved his frequent happy tears throughout the day, as well.) I appreciated that they valued an authentic day where they fully, truly experienced it. Rain and all.

Congrats, you two. I wish you so much happiness! XO!
