Crystal & Andrew’s VT Winter Wedding

February 14, 2024

It was a pleasure and an honor to photograph my childhood BFF’s wedding. I remember when Crystal first told me about Andrew– she was cutting my hair, something for which I regularly make the 2-hour journey to her salon. She told me she had a good feeling, but was taking things slowly. Less than two years later, she sent out invites to her winter wedding.

It was meaningful to photograph their ceremony, because it was held inside the church we grew up attending. I grew up going to church at St. Paul’s twice a week. My dad painted the interior of the church, and to my knowledge it has not been repainted since. I always thought that the blue and gold adornments, the long white pillars, and the stained glass windows were extremely beautiful. The sanctity of the church, coupled with the rich memories it held for many in attendance, provided a profound backdrop for Crystal and Andrew’s ceremony. In the presence of family and friends, Crystal and Andrew exchanged promises, weaving their love story into the tapestry of our shared history. I especially loved that after their larger ceremony, they invited their wedding party and families to listen to their personalized vows.

Following the heartfelt ceremony, the celebration moved to Burke Mountain. (I remember learning to snowboard with Crystal at that mountain when we were 12!) The reception space glowed with a warm, inviting ambiance that perfectly complemented the frosty allure of a VT winter wedding. There were so many “perfectly Crystal” touches to the space. Purple florals (Crystal’s favorite color, of course), pizza, and fun favors like bubble guns adorned the space and made it unique and fun. Andrew’s energy was immaculate, and he danced the night away (sometimes without his shoes, but always with a huge grin). A favorite reception moment to photograph was Crystal gifting her bouquet to her mother. Her speech, noting her mom’s strength and fierce loving kindness, had everyone crying.

This wedding was special in part because Crystal and Andrew took the time to appreciate how beautiful it was that they found each other in the first place. They don’t take each other for granted. It felt good knowing that someone I have cared about for decades found her One.

Their VT winter wedding was not just a celebration of their love; it was a testament to the sanctity of shared spaces, and the warmth that can be found in the simplicity of a frigid & snowy landscape. Congratulations, you two! XO!
