“The snow began to fall again, drifting against the windows, politely, but relentlessly.” This Mary Oliver quote that ran through my mind as the snow pelted down before Nicolette walked down the aisle. Stunning in her corseted gown and gold jewelry that gave a stylish and retro-bride feel to her look, Nicolette embraced the freezing air saying, “this is exactly what we dreamed of.”
Set against the stunning backdrop of the Mountaintop Resort, their celebration embraced the season’s raw beauty rather than fighting against it. With Buffalo plaid blankets, outdoor fireplaces, and cups of hot tea and cocoa, the guests were treated to a VERY quintessential Vermont experience. Their ceremony took place on the elegant patio space overlooking the snow-covered mountains, transformed completely by the blanket of snow.
I especially loved the snowfall against the backdrop of John’s smart velvet blazer, and flakes of snow in Nicolette’s almost-black, thick hair. This couple was so stylish for their engagement photos that I had very much been looking forward to seeing their wedding day ‘fits.
The reception was Christmasy and warm. It felt like a hug from a relative you love. The huge Christmas tree next to the band, the thousand of twinkle lights adorning the ceilings, and the cranberries bobbing to the top of champagne glasses were gorgeously festive. As the evening unfolded, East Coast Soul brought unmatched energy that had literally everyone dancing at this epic Vermont winter wedding.
I have to say, preparing and executing a wedding during a blizzard is NO SMALL FEAT. The vendors I had the pleasure of working with hustled– shoveling, applying extra hairspray, sprinkling salt, drying blankets, etc.– to make sure that the couple and their guests were not inconvenienced at all, and could be spectators to the snowglobe world they were walking into. Vermont winters can be HARSH, but the guests saw only the beauty of the day.
The scene was perfect. Outside, a quiet enveloped the sleepy town. Inside, a warm and decadent party ensued. A unique a party as their love story. Congratulations, you two, and thank you!
