A Rainy Day Turned Radiant: A Vermont Mountain Wedding at The Mountain Top Inn

Jenny and Kweku’s mountain wedding in Vermont last weekend was the perfect blend of romance, resilience, and breathtaking scenery. Set against the rolling hills of The Mountain Top Inn & Resort in Chittenden, the day unfolded in a very unforgettable way (as all Vermont weddings tend to do).

The day began with soft rain falling over the hills, nudging us to move the ceremony indoors. Vermont mountain weddings are subject to temperamental weather because of the altitude, and storms frequently roll in and out. Thanks to the venue’s thoughtful rain plan, the indoor space was just as romantic, and honestly, more intimate for guests. It felt like a cozy space just for them, filled with candlelight and the love of their closest people.

As dinner wrapped and glasses clinked in celebration, a rainbow appeared outside. The skies opened, soft evening light poured in, and we stepped outside for portraits—no umbrellas needed! As a wedding photographer, there’s nothing more rewarding than those in-between moments: when the weather shifts, the light turns golden, and the couple gets to breathe it all in, together.

Jenny and Kweku’s day was everything a mountain wedding in Vermont should be. It was peaceful, elegant, and a perfect getaway for guests. From the foggy morning views to the radiant post-storm skies, Jenny and Kweku’s calm and graceful candor was the most beautiful thing about the day to me.

Another favorite moment was their first look. We went to the lake, and the skies cleared up to give us gorgeous light. The couple got to privately exchange vows (a new tradition that many of my couples are adopting. I love it, and encourage people to share their vows privately!). I loved Kweku’s reaction, and seeing them together inspired me behind the camera.

If you’re dreaming of your own mountain wedding in Vermont, The Mountain Top Inn & Resort is truly one of the most picturesque spots you could choose. And choosing a photographer who is experienced in pivoting in all kinds of weather is a must!
