“This is the most special place to us,” Devan told me. Sugarbush Resort was a natural choice for her and Jacob’s fall 2026 wedding. She grew up skiing there, and her dad’s house is less than a mile from where we met at the base of Mount Ellen.
We met on a cool day at the very beginning of spring, when the grass had just turned green. I followed the sound of a river to find some beautiful spots to shoot, and I got to know Devan and Jacob.
Their love story is somehow classic and uncommon: they were childhood sweethearts. After a brief separation in college so that they could fully immerse themselves in their respective studies, they decided that they were actually very miserable without each other. Encouraged by Devan’s best friend, they got back together and never looked back.
During their engagement session, I loved how Jacob closed his eyes when he laughed at something Devan said. They were willing to be fully present, and mentioned that this was the goal for their wedding day, too.
I loved seeing how sacred the mountain was to them, and being in such a meaningful place made me all the happier to capture new memories there with them. Anyone who sees the majesty of Vermont, and wants to capture it, is my kind of client.
They’ll be getting married at Sugarbush this fall. I cannot wait to see Devan’s beautiful reddish hair against her dress, and to see Jacob close his eyes and laugh at her as I’m positive he will.
Congratulations, you two! Hugs and see you soon! XO
