Katie and Mike’s Shelburne Farms Spring Engagement

 

Congratulations to Katie and Mike, who are getting married in 2027 at the beautiful Lareau Farm Inn. 

We met at Shelburne Farms for their Vermont engagement shoot on an early day where you are overzealous and wear a tank top when you should have worn a sweater, but you don’t mind being a little chilly because your arms need sunlight. Those spring days where you have the zoomies because you’re outside in green grass. Where bugs aren’t out yet so you can let your guard down. And Katie and Mike were happy to frolic around Shelburne Farms with me, showing me a glimpse into their relationship dynamic and letting me capture it for them to keep.

They are incredibly warm-hearted, and I noticed that even when I hadn’t asked them to, they’d hold hands. I knew early on that capturing them for their Vermont engagement shoot in a documentary style would be inspiring, because the way they naturally interacted was beautiful. They led each other around rocky terrain, and noted the cows out to pasture, the gorgeous evening sun, and the glistening lake at the Shelburne Farms Inn.

Katie and Mike met in high school, and after years apart finally moved in together in Boston. They love Vermont and are excited to show their friends and family the Lareau Farm Inn, at which Mike told me he had always pictured his wedding taking place. “I’d drive by it and think, that would be the perfect spot.” He showed Katie, and she fell in love, too.

I feel very lucky to photograph a wedding where there is a strong tie to the sense of place, and a strong tie to the people. Thank you and congratulations, Katie and Mike!
